Things to do in Sapanca and Maşukiye

Sapanca lake

A long waterfront for walking and cycling, cafés on the water and pedal boats for children. Sunset from the western shore is the picture everyone takes home.

Maşukiye waterfalls

A mountainside village where water runs between the restaurants; you sit at a table above the stream for trout and pastries. The dirt road above the village leads to higher, quieter falls.

Kartepe cable car

Climbs from the foot of the mountain to about 1,600 m in fifteen minutes; meadows and views over the lake and the Marmara in summer, a ski resort with beginner slopes and sledding in winter.

Zoo and farms

Small parks and educational farms around the lake where children ride horses and feed animals, ideal for a family with small children before lunch in Maşukiye.

Cabins and bungalows

Sapanca is famous for wooden cabins with a private garden and pool and a lake or forest view, booked for a night or two by families who want privacy.

Combine with Bursa or İzmit

Sapanca lies on the road to Bursa and Yalova, so it is sometimes paired with İzmit in one day, or becomes a stop on the way to Bursa and Uludağ in winter.
