⏱️ Time needed: Half to full day📅 Best time: June to September for swimming; mornings are calmest

Oludeniz is the postcard everyone pictures when they imagine the Turkish Mediterranean: a spit of pale sand curling around a still, shallow lagoon whose water shades from mint to deep turquoise. The lagoon itself is a protected nature reserve, so it stays calm and swimmable even when the open sea is choppy, which makes it ideal for children and weaker swimmers. A small entry fee applies to the reserve section, while the adjoining Belcekiz public beach is free and lined with cafes, sun loungers and watersports. Behind the sand rises Babadag Mountain, from which paragliders spiral down all day and land on the beach, so there is constant color overhead. Come early: by late morning the beach fills, the sun turns fierce and parking gets tight. The village has hotels, restaurants and boat jetties, but the beach and lagoon are the reason to be here.

💡Tip: Arrive before 10am for parking, calm water and the softest light; bring water shoes, as parts of the lagoon shelve into pebbles.
